Easy Gold with Essences
Filed Under World of Warcraft Guides
I mentioned this strategy in a post on WoW Auctioneer - Most Profitable Items but I though I would expand on it a little as it really is a great gold making strategy for any level player.
There are three different kinds of enchanting materials that enchanters get after disenchanting a magical item - shards, essences and dusts. This strategy is about making gold with the essences.
First, you need a little gold to start with - around 5 gold or so which shouldn’t be too hard to come by if you’ve read my other posts or have a copy of my favorite gold guide.
Lesser and Greater Essences
Lesser and greater essences (magic, mystic, astral, nether, eternal) have a special property - you can transform one to the other. For example, if you have 3 lesser essences you can make 1 greater essence and vice-verse turning one greater essence into three lesser essences. Just right click on the item in your bag and the conversion is done automatically.
At the auction house you can find both greater and lesser essences but here’s the gold making trick: on average, lesser essences sell for a higher price than greater essences.
For example:
* 1 Greater Eternal Essence sells for 6 gold at auction
* 1 Lesser Eternal Essence sells for 3 gold 50 silver at auction
Doing the math:
3 x 3 gold 50 silver = 10 gold 50 silver
10 gold 50 silver - 6 gold = 4 gold 50 silver pure profit
Karazhan Attunement Guide
Filed Under World of Warcraft Guides
Karazhan is a ten player raid where a key is necessary not only to open the door to the instance but also to enter the instance portal. The masters key can be obtained through a series of quests starting outside the instance. The instance is at the southern most part of Deadwind Pass at the end of the river.
1. Arcane Disturbances (Deadwind Pass)
(47, 75) Speak with Archmage Alrturus outside the instance, who will give you the quest Arcane Disturbances. It’s best to pick up the quest Restless Activity also while you’re there.
(48, 78) Go down one of the two entrances leading down into the ground. One of these leads to the pond while the other leads to the well. When you get to the pond/well use the Violet Scrying Crystal.
(47, 75) When you return to Archmage Alrturus you should have enough ghostly essenses to be able to hand in Restless Activity along with Arcane Disturbances.
Get the follow up quest Contact from Dalaran.
2. Contact from Dalaran (Alterec Mountains)
From Ironforge fly to Southshore in the Hillsbrad foothills and go north into the Alterec Mountains.
(15, 54) Speak with Archmage Cedric and complete the quest. Get the follow up quest Khadgar
World of Warcraft macros allow you to automate certain repetitive or complicated tasks in WoW by binding a series of text commands (those you would normally type in the command window) to a button which will execute the commands when it is pressed.
Covering all the options you have when creating WoW macros would take a small book so instead of boring you with all those details I thought I would use this article to go over the macros that are most helpful for warriors.
First, a few general characteristics of macros themselves.
Top 9 WoW Secrets
Filed Under World of Warcraft Guides
World of Warcraft is full of easter eggs, secrets, hidden areas, and clever ways to make gold that few players know about. Some help you get rare pets, some let you see hidden content or lore, and some just help you make a few extra gold. Here are the Top 9 WoW Secrets.
9. The Chicken Quest
Go over to Westfall and find a chicken (any chicken will do) on Saldeans Farm. To unlock this secret you have to do the ‘chicken dance’ for the chicken a few dozen times. Set up a macro (Options, Macros, choose an icon and enter the command “/chicken”) and put the icon for the macro on your action bar. Once you hit the magic number of chicken dances, you’ll get this message: “Chicken looks at you quizzically. Maybe you should inspect it.” Inspect the chicken, accept the quest, then buy the special chicken feed from Farmer Saldean. Return to the chicken and type “/cheer” before feeding it and the chicken will lay an egg producing a rare WoW secrets pet - the prairie chicken!
If you’ve ever played a Hunter in World of Warcraft, you’re constantly on the lookout for a more powerful pet. Even though you may have become emotionally attached to that bear or panther you tamed at level 10, there are many creatures that make much better World of Warcraft pets than good old “Mr. Whiskers”.
Although some pets are better in certain situations than others depending on whether you want a tank or dps, there are a few animals that stand head and shoulders above the rest. Here’s a list of the Top 10 World of Warcraft Pets along with where they’re found, their ability modifiers, skills, and whether they make a better tank, dps, or general pet.
10. Nether Ray
Found in Outland, this WoW pet has a body much like a stingray with a long tail and two feathery plumes. It has crystalline growths and stripes running down its body, and all types are brightly colored. Nether Rays can be found in Netherstorm, Zangarmarsh, and Shadowmoon Valley (caster stats) with the Fen Ray from the Underbog as the only-non caster of this creature.

(Notice that this screenshot was taken before I auctioned off the Mature Blue Dragon Sinew (worth 85 gold) and the stacks of Primal Water (worth 430 gold per stack) you can see there in my backpack.)
Here's another screenshot showing a few of my other auctions. I bought that Schematic: Healing Potion Injector for only 20 gold earlier in the day. When the auction clears I'll make at least 75 gold (it ended up getting bought out so I made 105 gold) for just a few minute's work because I know what and when to buy and sell at the auction house for maximum profits.
